Dial Up Configuration - Windows XP
When setting up a dial up connection please ensure that you have a 56k dial up modem and it is connected directly into your telephone socket.
Please go to your 'start' menu; followed by 'Control Panel'.
Select 'Network and Internet Connections' (if you use category view).
Select 'Internet Options'.
You will see various tabs along the top, select 'Connections'. Choose 'Add'.
Select 'Dial up to Private Network' and click 'Next'.
You will be prompted for the phone number to dial. This is the dial up number to dial into for example 08456043020. Once assigned click 'Next'.
Now you will be asked to give your dial up connection a generic name so you can identify it for future reference. You could call it My Firenet. Then click 'Next'.
You will now come to the last stage to provide your dial up details. Please tick 'Automatically Detect Settings' and provide your username and password (this is your dial up username and password). Once completed click 'OK'.
If your connection is not set to default you can select this option now. Your computer is now configured for your new dial-up connection.
